Supporting Local for the Holiday Season: Where to Shop

'Tis the season that people are out on the hunt for the perfect holiday gift or special surprise for family and loved ones. With so many options nowadays, it's easy to click around the web and have everything shipped to your door. Don't get me wrong, I much prefer online shopping to the long hours wandering packed malls in the creeping darkness that is 5PM in December, but I urge everyone to consider alternative shopping options this season.

There is a blooming Indigenous artist scene coming up in the central Interior, and people looking to support local have dozens of wonderful options at their fingertips and in their backyard.

What's Available?

Of course, the Indigenous Resurgence Project Directory has quite a few options, but there are so many more artisans beyond the directory.

Christmas Market Until December 11th

If you're looking for an in-person experience, our friends over at the Secwepemc L.I.F.E. Network not only have a local store-front that features local artisans and businesses in Chase but also runs a Christmas Market every Saturday, until December 11th.

The Christmas Market runs from 9AM - 2PM and is located at 632 Shuswap Ave. in Chase, BC.

Winter Market December 4th

The lovely people over with Sharing Mela'hma are also hosting pop-up Winter Markets in Enderby at 5458 Baptiste Rd, from 10AM - 3PM.

For more information, or to be in the know about future pop-up markets, follow their Facebook page!
