KAMLOOPS, BC - Join the Indigenous Resurgence Project (IRP) in celebrating the end of Indigenous History Month with an exciting concert and all-day artisan Market hosted at Thompson Rivers University on June 25th. From hand-made crafts, local businesses, and interactive booths, there will be something for the whole family.

On Saturday, June 25th, the IRP will be breaking its two-year hiatus and presenting another fun-filled event for all ages. Thompson Rivers University will be hosting the event in the Mountain Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Campus Activity Center. The event will start with an all-day indoor artisan market running from 10AM - 4PM, numerous Indigenous artists and businesses from across BC’s beautiful Southern Interior will be featured. All kinds of products can be found from hand-made crafts and cultural items to services and support from local Indigenous organizations.

That evening will follow with the RE-AWAKENING Concert, featuring Merritt-based guitarist, Willard Wallace, and the award-winning Lil’wat band, The Spiritual Warriors, who will be performing songs from their newest album, INDIGENIZE. The concert will open doors to the public at 6:30PM and run until approximately 10PM.

The event is being hosted as a celebration of Indigenous voices in unceded Secwepemc’ulucw. Uplifting, showcasing, and supporting local talent and arts as a light-hearted send-off to mark the end of Indigenous History Month. The event is also meant to bring awareness to the beautifully diverse culture and art from different Indigneous groups, and what types of Indigenous artists and businesses are operating in the area.

“At this point in time, I think it’s important to showcase our local Indigenous artists and businesses. We’re calling this RE-AWAKENING, not only because we are coming out on the other side of COVID, but because I feel as though the landscape in the Kamloops area has changed, something in the air has changed and I can feel it.” Says IRP Director, Shay Paul.

Tickets to the RE-AWAKENING Concert are $18, with $2 from every ticket to be donated to the PiT Stop organization run out of the Kamloops United Church for all the work they do for our community.

Tickets can be bought in advance on Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/re-awakening-concert-tickets-340044100057 or can be purchased at the door for $20 while quantities last.
