Eco Tripping : Wear Nature

Sandra Prest-Froher is a Coast Salish artist, designer and natural dyer who lives and works on the traditional ancestral and unceded territory of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. Her textile art is focused on eco-print dyeing using plants on natural fabrics like silk. Sandra uses botanical dyes derived from leaves, bark, stems, seeds, roots, and acorns. Sandra's one-of-a-kind wearable art is a slow cloth approach to textile art and harnesses environmentally sustainable colour from the local landscape. She sees each creation acting as a conduit of care, collaboration, and re-consideration between human-plant relations.

4 Generations Creations

Ashley Michel is a self-taught Secwepemc seamstress and artist living in Kamloops BC. 4 Generations Creations started in 2013 after the birth of Ashley’s daughter and her desire to raise her young girl in culture and language. Ashley prides herself in creating authentic wearable pieces of clothing and regalia, working to make a place in the colonized world. By doing this, Ashley is encouraging others to show their resilience and be proud of who they are by being "unapologetically Indigenous".
